Gunther who?

First off, click here to see the updated FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about the Essentials of Travel Photography Workshop, or just scroll down to the next post. Take some time to read through the FAQs. Did you read the whole thing? If not, go back and read through the entire post. Now think about other questions you might have about the worshop and post them here so we can answer them.

Now that you know what the workshop is all about, it's time to answer the next obvious question: Who is Gunther Deichmann and why would I spend my hard-earned money to enroll in his class?

Gunther was born in Germany and traveled to Australia in his early 20s to work as a geology assistant. He traveled extensively across the Australian Outback. It was his desire to capture nature's beauty that led him to photography. A few years later, he shifted careers from geology to the colorful world of photography. Over 30 years after starting his career in photography, he is even more passionate about his craft than when he first started. In fact, he is so passionate about it that he unselfishly shares what he knows to his willing students. Click here to see what his website says about him.

GD's images have graced the covers of international publications including Time Magazine and Discovery. Click here to see other magazines where GD's images have been featured.

In 2006, GD published a coffeetable book called Journey Through Color and Time. The book contains page after page of jawdropping photographic perfection. It’s a compilation of over 300 pages containing images taken throughout his 30-year career, covering around 22 countries including the Philippines. Each page is just bursting with color. Gunther Deichmann is not just an accomplished photographer. He is also a well-respected photography instructor. He conducts photography and Aperture (Apple's photo management software) workshops throughout the year and across different countries. Click here to see his workshop calendar and here to read about what past students say about him.

Visit Gunther Deichmann's blog to read about his adventures as he shares his passion for photography. It's a very informative and entertaining read. And lots of images to inspire and bring out the photographer in you.

On October 23-24, Gunther will be a speaker in One Asia Festival to be held in Singapore. He is among the roster of photographers and videographers who will give a talk on Images of Asia which will "showcase the wonders of the continent through galleries and screenings, both still photography and film". He will also be among the judges in the Asia Without Borders Photo Competition brought to you by Asian Geographic.

Hopefully, learning more about Gunther Deichmann will get you excited about the upcoming Essentials of Photography Workshop. See you on October 8!
